เครื่องบันทึกเสียงการสนทนาทางโทรศัพท์ (Voice Logger) จะมีหน่วยความจำที่บันทึกเสียงในเครื่อง โดยหน่วยความจำดังกล่าวจะเป็น SD Card ขนาด 64 GB จะสามารถบันทึกเสียงได้ 4,000 ชั่วโมงหรือ Hard disk ขนาด 500 GB จะสามารถบันทึกเสียงได้ 35,000 ชั่วโมง และ Hard disk ขนาด 1000GB จะสามารถบันทึกเสียงได้ 70,000 ชั่วโมง ขึ้นอยู่กับรุ่นการใช้งาน เครื่องบันทึกเสียงชนิดนี้สามารถทำงานได้ด้วยตัวเอง (Stand Aloan) ไม่จำเป็นต้องมีเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ควบคุม แต่ควรติดตั้งในระบบเครือข่าย (LAN) เพื่อการค้นหาและการฟังเสียงที่ถูกบันทึกทำได้โดยผ่านคอมพิวเตอร์ที่อยู่ในระบบเครือข่ายเดียวกัน หรือผ่านทางอินเตอร์เนท เครื่องบันทึกชนิดนี้สามารถติดตั้งอยู่ในระบบเครือข่ายได้หลายเครื่องโดยใช้โปรแกรมการจัดการเพียงชุดเดียวเท่านั้น
